Although we have ::Forums:: for both Sarbox and Knowledge Management which could, conceivably, umbrella Document Retention, we think it deserves its very own ::Forum:: -- we think it's that important.
What are counsel's obligations to advise the client company prescriptively? Are organizations dealing counsel into policy-making and status reporting?
Relatively speaking, getting an intelligent DR policy in-place may be the easy part -- in a world where replicated documents can be stored anywhere in the world (home offices, laptops, PDA's, etc.) how does IT even begin to execute against a DR policy? Is there a Mission-Impossible-like technical solution -- this document will self-destruct?
And where is DR on some of the newer communications formats that have not traditionally been thought of in terms of document exchange -- VoIP, IM, Webex conferences, etc.?
Have a POV? Found "magnetic north?" Point us in the right direction? Post at it ...
