Overview
 
The process is fairly simple and straightforward.  If you have ever downloaded documents from the web or installed applications on your computer, this will be very familiar.

1.  You purchase an EDDix product

2.  We process the transaction (usually in less than 24 hours) and send you an email containing a purchase confirmation, an Order ID and a link to a secure download page.

3. Go to the secure download site.  Download a .ZIP file that includes a .EXE file.

4. Open the .EXE file to commence the installation.

5. Enter the Order ID from our email when asked.  An Authorization String will be returned to your browser.  Copy and paste the Authorization String into the installation dialog box.

6. The Eddix product you purchased in now installed on your computer.

How do I get the download?

You can download EDDix products in electronic formats from the Purchased Downloads tab under the Store menu.

Alternatively, after order approval, you will receive two emails -- the first confirms your order; the second email provides a link to a page where you may download the product plus the Order ID that you will need to complete product installation and activation.

 
What is the download format?
The product download file is in .ZIP format.
 
Why must I download a ZIP file?

Our electronic product formats use digital rights management which requires an installation on your computer.  Since many corporate IT departments prohibit the download of files with the .EXE extension, we package the required files into .ZIP format so that they can be more easily downloaded.

 
What is the document format?
The electronic format for all EDDix research products is Adobe PDF.
 
I don't have an Adobe reader ...
The reader required for our products is the Adobe Acrobat Reader (now call Abode Reader) version 5.0 and above.  It is a free product that may be acquired on Adobe's web site ...

Overview:  Digital Rights
Management ("DRM")
 

Digital Rights Management "DRM") is a process we apply to the PDF file format of our research products that allows us to set rules on how the PDF may be used, consistent with our standard License Agreement.

Specific restrictions include ...

Copying ... our product PDF cannot be copied from the machine on which it is installed to any other machine or media.

Document Manipulation ... the product PDF cannot be modified, nor can you copy, cut or extract text or graphics.

Printing ... you are permitted to produce a single printed copy of the document from each electronic instance (installation on a machine or CD-ROM format).

Additional restrictions may apply to free downloads or samples of our full commercial version products.

Generally, sample versions are further prohibited from printing and may have validation periods, after which they are automatically disabled
 
Can I move an EDDix product to my laptop or another computer?
No.  Each product instance can be installed to one and only one computer.
 
I lost my Order ID ...
Please contact us via email at R.Services@eddillxllc.com.  We will verify that your original Order ID has not been used and send you a new Order ID by return email.
 
 
I purchased a CD ROM format of an EDDix Product ...
The CD-ROM is just a different way to deliver the download to you -- the only difference is that there is no .ZIP container required.

Take the CD-ROM and place it into your CD drive on the system where you wish to install it to.  On most XP and Win 2000, 2003 systems, the autoplay will automatically execute the install program.  If it does not, you must manually run the install program from the CD.  Please read the CD README file to determine the exact name of the install program.

How do I install the product?
You should follow the directions in the ReadMe file that accompanies each product download.
 
What is the Order ID?

Our activation process individually activates each EDDix product on each specific user's computer.

The Order ID is unique to each user, is provided to you in an email, and can only be used once.

 
What is the Authorization String?

Once you enter the Order ID and click on the "Connect" button in the installation dialog box, you are connected to our activation system which generates a unique set of 9 characters (the "Authorization String") that  you need to enter in the installation dialog box to complete the activation of our product on your computer.

After you have entered the Order ID and clicked on the "Connect" button, a browser window is automatically opened on your computer.  Once our system has generated the Authorization String, it will appear in your browser window. 

Use your mouse to highlight the 9 characters and use "Ctrl + C" keys to copy the Authorization String, or right-click and select the "Copy" command.

When you minimize the browser window or close it, you will see the installation dialog box.  Paste the Authorization String into the dialog box using "Ctrl + V" or right-click and select the "Paste" command

 
I see the Authorization String in my browser but I no longer see the installation dialog box ...

The installation dialog box is just underneath your browser window.  You can get back to it by ...

-- Minimize your browser window   (Do NOT close the browser window); OR

-- ALT-TAB until you see the Process for FileOpen (our installation program); OR

-- Click on the FileOpen task bar entry at the bottom of your PC screen

 
The install program detected a the same version of the product already on my PC ...
This message means the EDDix product is already installed on your computer.  You should be able to access the product through your Start Programs menu.

If you need to reinstall an EDDix product and you receive this message, you must first uninstall the old product version before installing a replacement.  Go ahead and allow the product to be automatically uninstalled.

Remember, you will need a new Order ID to reinstall the product -- your old Order ID will not work.

Once the uninstall is complete, you will need to launch the .EXE file again from the downloaded .ZIP file in order to re-start the installation process.
 
It's installed.  How do I access the document?
All EDDix research products install to an EDDix program group and have a shortcut on your computer's Start Bar.  Select the product you want to open from the EDDix program group.
